Cooking Demonstration During a Thai Cooking Class in Chiang MaiSome lessons are remembered as much for the laughter as the cooking. This short video is from my Thai cooking class in Chiang Mai on 29 January 2026. I had one student take the lead at the stove while I talked the rest of the group through what was happening, turning him into the unexpected super star of the moment in front of 18 other students. When the fresh chilies went into the pan, the heat filled the space almost instantly. What followed was a lot of coughing, a lot of laughter, and a very real reminder of what cooking Pad Kaphrao is actually like. © 2026 Thai Secret Cooking School, Chiang Mai, Thailand. Cooking Tom Yum Goong & Pad Thai Together in Chiang Mai
This class brought together a full group, with a mix of menus and
plenty of shared moments in the kitchen.
This was a larger 16-person class, and these two guests were the only half-menu students that day. I always make time for everyone, adjusting the class so each guest gets personal guidance, no matter the group size. By the end, there were a few confident smiles and some very ambitious chef jokes.
A short, behind-the-scenes moment from the same class, finishing Pad Thai together.

Thai Cooking Class in Chiang Mai | Countryside Experience – 22 January 2026
A group photo from my Thai cooking class in Chiang Mai on 22 January 2026, taken in the countryside with rice fields in the background while we enjoyed
butterfly pea flower iced tea. I hosted a private Thai cooking class at my countryside home and garden farm just outside Chiang Mai. It was one of those easy, feel-good days - relaxed, hands-on, and full of good food from start to finish. We started the day with a visit to a local farmers market, where I introduced everyone to everyday Thai ingredients, fresh herbs, vegetables, and spices that we actually use in Thai home cooking. Walking through the market together is one of my favorite ways to begin a class—it helps connect the food to real life and shows how Thai people shop and cook day to day. After the market, we came back to my garden and took a group photo with the camping tents in the background, which really shows the countryside atmosphere here. This is not a studio or a tourist kitchen—it’s my home, my garden, and the place where I cook every day. Cooking Pad Krapow & Pad Thai - Hands-On Thai Wok CookingFast, hands-on moments from a real Thai cooking day. Because this was a private class, the pace stayed relaxed and personal. We talked about ingredients, Thai food culture, and everyday cooking tips you can actually use again at home. Lots of smiles, plenty of questions, and a lot of tasting along the way. This video explains the raw ingredients of Massaman curry before any cooking begins. One of the highlights of the day was making Massaman curry from scratch. We prepared the curry paste by hand, then slowly cooked the curry while talking about balance, timing, and depth of flavor. It’s a rich, comforting dish, and once you understand the process, it’s surprisingly achievable at home. We finished by sitting down together to enjoy everything we cooked, surrounded by the garden and countryside views. That shared meal at the end is always my favorite part—it’s calm, satisfying, This is exactly how I love to teach: authentic Thai food, a peaceful setting, and real connection through cooking. everyday Thai life All cooking shown in this post is prepared fresh on the day using locally sourced ingredients. This photo and video blog documents a Thai cooking class in Chiang Mai, including a market visit, garden cooking, Pad Krapow, Pad Thai, and Massaman curry ingredients. Start the day with a glass of butterfly pea flower iced tea. |
